What Every Parent Needs to Hear

“Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid”. Albert Einstein

CORE’s 11th graduation

The first 12 minutes of this video are a must-hear.

Dr. Lainie shares the heart of CORE Academy—why our students learn differently, how they grow when they feel seen and understood, and what makes our school community so special.

What a Parent Has to Say About CORE

“Dr. Lainie truly has a special gift with children, especially those who are different thinkers. She has profoundly changed the course of our son’s future and expanded what we believe is possible for him.

I cannot imagine a more meaningful legacy than the one she has created at CORE Academy and in the hearts of her students.”

A Professional Perspective on CORE

“What students gain at CORE Academy is far more than academic skills. CORE provides an environment, level of support, and accommodations that enable students to access learning, often when they have not been able to do so in other settings.

Dr. Lainie and her team tap into students’ strengths, including creativity, artistic abilities, out-of-the-box thinking, and problem-solving. As a result, students at CORE often begin to see themselves as intelligent, capable, and successful in school.”

— James Bylund, Psy.D., ABSNP
Licensed Educational Psychologist #3220

CORE students participate in community service experiences, including visits with older adults, where they practice kindness, conversation, empathy, and connection while learning the value of giving back.

What Parents Have to Say About CORE

“CORE changed my son’s life, as well as ours. He now likes going to school, feels successful, supported, and understood by his teachers. Dr. Lainie and her team meet him where he is and are relentless in finding how he learns best.”

— Mary, parent of a graduate
CORE gives students the building blocks they need by meeting each child where they are, especially when they come from a school experience that has left them feeling discouraged or in crisis. CORE helps them feel supported, rebuild confidence, and become ready for the next step. That means everything.”

— Sending love and appreciation, Colleen
CORE Academy has been a lifesaver for my son. He struggled with everything in the traditional school system, and I knew it was time for a change when he came home saying he was dumb and our evenings were filled with homework and tears.

CORE Academy made school feel safe and fun for Westley. He is now gaining confidence and beginning to enjoy learning again.”

—Nicole Larsen, parent of a graduate
“Jonathan graduated from Orion Academy and is now heading to UC Davis to study art. We are so grateful for your support during middle school and for your belief in our son.”
